IRNA Different parts of Iran's northern Caspian Sea Province of Gilan have been burning since Saturday and the fire may spread due to the warm winds in the area, a provincial official announced.
Local emergency forces are on the scene to tame the fire which is nearing the residential rural areas, Mehdi Valipour, managing director of Gilan Red Crescent Society, told reporters.
'The fire is under control, but it may spread due to the wind speed [of 50 km per hour],' he added.
According to reports given by the people, some local residents who were afraid of fire to reach their houses have been leaving the area.
Gilan Natural Resources Department had warned on March 24 against the increase of tempreture, and asked the new year tourists and local people not to set campfire in jungles.
