Choppers to tame fire in Iran's northern jungle road

IRNA Fire which started on Saturday in Iran's northern jungle road in Marzanabad, Mazandaran Provine continues as emergency units asked for helicopters following rising temperature and wind speed, a local official said.

The helicopters are to extinguish the fire which started in a difficult-to-pass area, Mehrdad Khazaei, head of Chalus Natural Resources Department told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) late on Saturday.

When the fire happened, he added, local aid forces were dispatched to the area and tamed it, but the fire started again as the wind increased.

Earlier, crisis management department of Mazandaran Province had warned against the rise of temperature, and asked the new year tourists and local people not to set campfire in jungle.

Coincident with the Marzanabad incident, different parts of Iran's northern Caspian Sea Province of Gilan have been burning since Saturday and the fire is feard to spread due to the warm winds in the area.
