IRNA The Russian deputy foreign minister in a meeting with Secretary General of the European External Action Service reiterated Moscows adherence to its commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal official known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Immediately after a meeting between the Russian and French foreign ministers, Russian Foreign Ministry announced a meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov and Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmidt on the political issues surrounding JCPOA.
As long as other parties remain committed to the JCPOA, Russia will abide by the deal, the Russian official said.
Earlier in a meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov voiced opposition to any changes in the contents of the JCPOA, stressing that the international pact should be implemented.
The French foreign minister, for his part, said that JCPOA will be the main topic of discussion during his forthcoming meetings with Iranian officials next week.
As French President Emanuel Macron earlier announced, We will defend the international deal, he said.
