IRNA - A senior Iranian trader on Saturday called for formation of a committee comprising the Asian Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and institutions within the framework of Asian political parties.
Addressing the 29th Meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) Standing Committee and the 2nd Special Conference on the Silk Road, Head of Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce Asadollah Asgaroladi proposed that the committe can convene every three or six months to get the economic activists acquainted with each other.
He said that Asia has been awakened and add, 'We also have been awakened. After victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, we felt such an awakening.'
The veteran businessman said that formation of the committee in the ICAPP will play a key role in fostering economic transactions among the member countries by attending exhibitions and trade seminars in other countries.
He also stressed the significance of forming the ICAPP secretariat in Middle East, adding that the center could be stationed in Tehran and present its monthly report to the ICAPP secretary general.
The 29th Meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) Standing Committee, and the 2nd Special Conference on the Silk Road opened in Iran International Conference Center, Tehran, on Friday (Feb 2).
The ICAPP is hosted by Iran's Islamic Coalition Party and is attended by some 100 leaders, secretary generals and senior officials of 40 parties and political organizations from 25 Asian countries, as well as delegates from some regional and international organizations.
This is the first time that Iran hosts an ICAPP meeting.
