Sanchi black box not damaged

IRNA The black box of the sunken Iranian oil tanker had not been damaged, deputy head of Ports and Maritime Organization said.

'The committee to investigate Sanchi accident consisting of representatives from Iran, China, Hong Kong and Panama are reviewing issues related to the deadly accident,' Hadi Haqshenas said on Monday.

'The black box information will be given to Ports and Maritime Organization and the issue will be addressed in expert committees,' he said.

'The committee will continue its work until the reason behind the accident is uncovered,' he added.

Those families who want to travel to China to follow-up the issue of dead bodies of Iranian sailors should plan their trip through National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC), he noted.

A sum of 30 Iranian and two Bangladeshi sailors, who were all crew members of the Sanchi oil tanker, were killed because of the toxic gases and the huge fire which embraced the tanker after the ship collided with a Chinese freighter in the East China Sea on Jan 6.

All the rescue efforts were in vain and the oil tanker sank on January 14.

The bodies of three crew members of the Iranian oil tanker have been identified based on DNA tests, according to a report by the secretariat of the committee to investigate the oil tanker incident.
