Sputnik - UK Prime Minister Theresa May has reiterated London's commitment to Iran's nuclear deal at the Monday meeting with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and the two agreed to counter Tehran's destabilizing activities in the region, May's spokesperson said.
"They agreed onthe importance ofthe international community coming together tocounter Iran's destabilising regional activity, and the Prime Minister reiterated the UK's commitment tothe Iran nuclear deal," the prime minister's spokesperson said, asquoted bythe Independent newspaper.
According tothe Downing Street representative, May and Tillerson also discussed "the continuing depth and breadth ofthe special relationship" duringthe talks inLondon.
Tillerson met withhis UK counterpart Boris Johnson aswell.
The Joint Comprehensive Plan ofAction, agreed in2015, ensures the gradual lifting ofsanctions offIran inexchange forTehran ensuring that its nuclear program is peaceful. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized the deal and Iran's compliance withit.
