SHANA � National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) says the company is ready to get off the ground the land section of Iran-Oman gas pipeline project.

Hamid Reza Araghi, NIGC managing director, "Based on the talks between Tehran and Muscat for developing the project, besides building the necessary infrastructure for exporting Iranian gas to Oman in the maritime sector, implementation of the land section of the project has been entrusted to Iran, and we are ready to implement the section."

Araghi, who is also Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Gas Affairs, said decisions regarding implementation of the project are still on the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum, adding the scheme will be implemented in the two sections of land and sea.

He said the maritime infrastructure of the project is not prepared yet, but work on the land section will start only when the fate of the maritime section is determined.

The Iran-Oman gas pipeline project is expected to connect Iran�s gas reserves with Omani consumers and LNG plants so that Oman could re-export the gas.
