Zarif: Iran, EU to hold consultative meeting on JCPOA

IRNA - Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said here on Monday that Iran and three members of European Union (EU) are slated to hold a consultative meeting on the 2015 nuclear agreeement.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the 2nd Tehran Security Conference 2018, he stressed significance of the nuclear deal between Tehran and the world powers, known also as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Zarif said that the consultative meeting will be held to deal with US destructive policies regarding the JCPOA.

To a question about the invitation by Germany to discuss the recent protests in Iran, he said certain media, the Zionists in particular, are seeking to create propaganda about the incidents.

Problems facing West Asia such as terrorism, extremism, general security, environmental risks, regional security, big powers interventionism, governance, cyber revolution, economic development, emerging identities, weapons trends and West Asia in post-Western unilateralism era are the major topics scheduled to be discussed in the 2nd Tehran Security Conference 2018.

The First Tehran Security Conference was held in 2017 with the motto of dialogue as well as mutual confidence and cooperation among West Asian countries in order to achieve collective security and progress.
