Iran vice president urges regional vigilance against US, Israeli plots

Irans Vice President Mohammad Reza Mir-Tajeddini has warned against efforts by hegemonic powers to stoke religious tensions in the Muslim world, urging regional vigilance to thwart the US and Israeli plots.
Arrogant powers are plotting to create religious strife in the Muslim world because they have failed to prevent the spread of Islamic Awakening across the regional countries, the Iranian vice president said in a meeting with Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Beirut on Thursday.
In the current sensitive situation, there is great significance to the vigilance of the people in the region and the role of Muslim scholars in enlightening [people] and thwarting plots by the US and the Zionist regime (Israel) aimed at tarnishing the image of Islam in the world, Mir-Tajeddini stated.
He further lauded the Lebanese peoples resistance against the Israeli regime and expressed Irans support for Lebanons army, nation and anti-Israeli resistance.

Mikati, for his part, said both Tehran and Beirut are of the conviction that regional countries need to remain united and watch out for seditious moves.

He said certain powers have triggered tension in the Middle East to find a pretext to justify their interference in the internal affairs of regional countries.

Mikati also thanked Iran for supporting Lebanons national unity and stability, calling for further consolidation of mutual cooperation.
