December 30, The Iran Project - Iranians attended countrywide marches on Saturday (Dec. 30) in commemoration of a huge rally back in 2009 in which the nation reaffirmed allegiance to the Islamic Republic Establishment and ended months of turmoil, including sacrilegious riots, following that year�s presidential election.

Various cities of Iran saw people from different walks of life pouring to the streets on Saturday to mark what has become known as �Dey 9� epic.

The day has been designated in the Iranian calendar as the �day of insight and nation�s allegiance to religious leadership.�

Addressing a local gathering to commemorate �Dey 9� epic, deputy commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami said that Iranian nation skillfully makes opportunities out of threats, adding that the enemies should expect to receive heavier defeats.

"Inspired by the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, many strong forces have been founded in Iraq, Syria and Yemen," Salami said.

"Today, the enemies see that our authority is exercised thousands of kilometers beyond our borders," he said, noting that the enemies try in vain to find a way to influence the country.

Meanwhile, �addressing Tehran�s massive rally in Grand Musalla of Tehran, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki highlighted that Iranians will always support the Islamic Republic and they will disappoint the enemies.

Massive rallies on December 30, 2009, put an end to a period of occasional street riots and unrest that erupted after the presidential election, and gained notoriety later as �the sedition of 88�.

The rioters had not even respected the highly-revered religious sanctities of the Iranian nation, holding jubilant demonstrations on Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has on various occasions warned against plots hatched by enemies to target the origin and identity of the Islamic Establishment.
