Defending Holy Quds is a must: Algerian speaker

IRNA President of People's National Assembly of Algeria urged Muslims to consider Holy Quds as the axis of unity, stressing that defending the Holy Quds is a necessity.

'Algeria follows the policy of adopting peaceful solutions to the crises and not meddling in the internal affairs of other countries,' Said Bouhadja during a meeting held here on Monday with Iran's Ambassador to Algeria Reza Ameri.

Talking of the upcoming Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC member states (PUIC) slated for mid January in the Iranian capital, Bouhadja said the gathering is important regarding the current conditions.

He expressed hope that Tehran PUIC conference would focus on peace and stability in the Islamic countries and the issues of Quds and terrorism as two important challenges in today's world and region.

US President Donald Trump made a decision on December 6 to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Holy Quds. On Dec 21, the United Nation General Assembly resolution to reject the US decision on the Holy Quds got 128 votes in favor and nine against.)

During the Monday meeting in Algiers, Ameri presented the letter of invitation from Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani to Bouhadja to attend the PUIC conference in Tehran. The Algerian assembly speaker welcomed the invitation.

The two also held talks on ways to strengthen parliamentary ties, and stressed the need to exchange more parliamentary delegations between Tehran and Algiers.

The 13th session of the PUIC conference will be held in the Iranian capital on January 16-17.
