Zolfaghari: Tehran, Ankara hold firm ties in anti-terrorism fight

MNA Hossein Zolfaghari, Iranian Deputy Interior Minister, said Iran and Turkey were cooperating seriously in security and counter-terrorism fields.


The official made the remarks asserting that there exists a serious vision on both countries' parts for expansion of cooperation and implementation of bilateral agreements in various areas.

He added that during recent visit of the Turkish Interior Minister to Tehran and his meeting with his Iranian counterpart, views were exchanges and excellent agreements were reached on a wide variety of topics including threats to security of the two sides related to terrorism, drug trafficking and industrial drugs mainly brought in through western borders, as well as on smuggling of weapons and ammunition and alcoholic beverages, illegal immigration and human trafficking and other organized crimes with respect for rights of nationals of both countries.

Zolfaghari stated that implementation of these agreements required cooperation of all agents and executive bodies of the two parties via coordination on operational levels. In the same line, the second meeting of joint working group of Interior Ministry officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Turkish Republic was held in Ankara over three days.
