IRNA - Military confrontation with Daesh terrorists is not enough and the terrorist group should be fought in ideological fronts too, an Iraqi senior politician said.
Talking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on the sidelines of the Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, the leader of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council Humam Hamoudi appreciated Irans aid in fighting Daesh and terrorism and also in enlightening Islamic World to get to know Daesh.
Fighting Daesh requires ideological guidelines, he said, referring to the important role of media in todays world.
Reviewing the ideology of different religions and schools of thought is necessary in confronting terrorist group Daesh, he added.
Islamic World is facing various challenges nowadays, he said, pointing to the importance of holding Islamic Unity Conference in reinforcing unity.
Regarding the defeat of Daesh and Iraqi forces victory after four years, holding Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran was essential, he said.
The 31st International Islamic Unity Conference was held with the attendance of 500 foreign and domestic participants on December 5-7 in Tehran.
