Press TV - Iran has dismissedas baseless allegations leveled by US President Donald Trumps senior advisor and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, against the Islamic Republic, saying such claims are rooted in the desperation, dismay and frustration of the US officials.
"If it were not for the recent attempts and sacrifices of the Islamic Republic of Iran in its confrontation with terrorist threats and extremism in the region, including Iraq and Syria, the US streets would now be witnessing acts of terror and violence by extremist groups," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Monday.
He added that the international community should appreciate Irans "principled and rational" policies in the campaign against extremist and terrorist groups in the region.
The Iranian official also emphasized that Iran's anti-terror measures have made the US officials resort to lame accusationsagainst the Islamic Republic as they think that their survival depends on creating a tense atmosphere against Tehran in the region.
"Such unfounded allegations are made at a time whenIran enjoys the best level of relations with its neighbors in the region," Qassemi said.
Speaking to a gathering of Middle East experts at the Brookings Institutions Saban Forum on Sunday, Kushner bragged about fighting Iran and claimed that Trumps team that is tasked with establishing peace in the Middle East was not a conventional team, but its a perfectly qualified team.
In a rare public appearance, the 36-year-old Kushner added, If were going to try to create more stability in the region as a whole, you have to solve this issue.
