Iranian VP, Libyan FM discuss closer ties
Tasnim Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri and Libyan Foreign Minister Mohamed Taha Siala exchanged views about ways to boost relations between the two countries in all spheres.

Speaking at the meeting, held in Bolivia on Friday on the sidelines of the fourth summit meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), Jahangiri pointed to the ongoing crisis in Libya and said the people of the North African country are capable of overcoming their problems.

He further emphasized that the Iranian people and government have always sided with the great nation of Libya, adding that Tehran is ready to boost cooperation with Tripoli in diverse fields.

The Libyan top diplomat, for his part, underlined that his country is willing to deepen relations with the Islamic Republic in all areas.

The fourth GECF Gas Summit was held on Friday, November 24.

The Gas Exporting Countries Forum has 19 main and observer members and its permanent secretariat is located in Qatars capital city, Doha. Iran, Russia, Qatar, Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Peru, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman are main members of GECF.

The forums observer members include the Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Iraq, and Norway.

Member states of GECF account for 42 percent of global gas production, 70 percent of global gas reserves, 40 percent of natural gas transmission through pipelines, and 65 percent of the worlds liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade.
