IRNA Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi on Thursday called on all parties in Zimbabwe to resolve their disputes through peaceful negotiations.
Referring to recent developments in the country, Qasemi said the Islamic Republic of Iran is closely monitoring the situation in Zimbabwe.
Tehran wants all sides to resolve issues through peaceful means and engaging in talks within the framework of the country's constitution and democratic process away from any type of violence or coercions and based on a respect for the people's will and interests.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry official also expressed hope that efforts by the African institutions like the African Union and Southern African Development Community (SADC) as well as African leaders to bear fruits soon and help restore calm, stability and rule of law the African nation.
The fierce battle to succeed 93-year old President Robert Mugabe, came to a head on Wednesday, when the military effectively seized control of government and launched a crackdown on what it described as criminals around Mugabe.
