IRNA - Visiting Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Kunio Mikuriya said on Sunday that Iran's custom office is one of the most successful in the world.
Mikuriya made the remarks in a meeting with Governor General of East Azarbaijan Majid Khodabakhsh on Sunday.
Commerce is the engine of developments in all countries and role of customs offices is very remarkable to this end, he said.
WCO has some 182 members (countries) and the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the best and oldest of them, Mikuriya added.
It is necessary that Iran's customs office to further broaden and bolster relations and cooperation with the WCO, he said.
Governor General of East Azarbaijan, for his part, said removal of red tapes and applying mechanical systems help speed up customs office formalities leading to expansion of international cooperation.
Cultural, economic, social, industrial and commercial aspects of Tabriz are among main characteristic of the province for centuries, he said.
