IRNA � Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Tuesday that extremism is rooted in lack of culture, and expressed the hope that ECO region countries will helps in confronting the danger of extremism.


He made the remarks during a visit to ECO Cultural Institute in Tehran.

Zarif appreciated Head of the ECI Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri and his colleagues for their works in turning the center to an element for solidarity among countries of the region.

He said that among all international organizations in the region ECO has the most cultural solidarity.

Zarif said that extremism has cultural roots and underlined that unfortunately this region is facing many dangers like radicalism, which are rooted in lack of culture.
