Iran, Iraq urge cooperation on Arba'een

IRNA Iran's Minister of Communication and Information Technology and Iraq's Foreign Minister urged boosting bilateral cooperation in every sphere in order to hold the ceremonies of Arba'een smoothly.

The Iranian Minister Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi and the Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari in a meeting on Wednesday in Iraq's capital city, Baghdad, explored bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of strengthening ties in every field, and efforts to smoothly hold the Arba'een ceremonies this year.

Arba'een is the 40th day after Ashura (the day that the 3rd Imam of Shia Muslims was martyred). Every year Muslims across the world gather together to commemorate the day. It is expected that on the day this year (November 9) the holy city of Karbal in Iraq receive millions of pilgrims from all over the world.

The Iranian official also expressed readiness for exchanging experience in communication issues, and the Iranian firms' preparedness for propping up Iraq's communication sector.

The Iraqi foreign minister, for his part, vowed that his country will try to lay grounds for joint cooperation and address common, regional challenges.

Jaafari also said that Iraq will spare no effort to hold the Arba'een in the best way, despite being involved in a fight against terrorism.
