ISNA Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi announced on Sunday that there have been no developments in the border area of Iran with the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
Denying reports that Tehran had closed a border crossing with northern Iraq in response to an independence referendum in Iraqs Kurdish region last month, Qassemi said, As we announced earlier, we blocked our airspace to the Kurdish region on a request from the central government of Iraq, and as far as I know, nothing new has happened in this area.
Sunday morning, the Lebanese channel Al-Mayadeen claimed that Iran has closed its land borders with the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
