October 13, The Iran Project - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tanzania Augustine Mahiga, heading a high ranking delegation, arrived in Tehran on Wednesday (Oct 11) to meet and talk with top Iranian officials.

While in Tehran, the Tanzanian foreign minister met his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, President Hassan Rouhani and explored avenues for improvement of bilateral cooperation.

In a meeting with Mahiga, President Rouhani said Iran is ready to share its experiences in fighting terrorism with neighboring countries, calling terrorism as a big problem of the world and urged all countries to fight the problem.

The fact that nobody dares to support terrorist groups such as Al-Nusra Front, Al-Qaeda, Al-Shabab, Boko Haram and Daesh indicates that the world has accepted the danger of terrorism, President Rouhani added.

He also referred to creating joint economic commission between Iran and Tanzania as important.

Meanwhile, Mahiga expressed Tanzania's readiness to develop ties with Iran in all fields, adding that Tanzania is not only ready to take advantage of Iran's experiences in fighting terrorism and extremism, but in fighting organized crimes, human trafficking and money laundering.

Talking to his Tanzanian counterpart, Iranian foreign minister underlined Islamic Republic's preparedness for development of relations with Tanzania, adding that Iran's private and government sectors are ready for development of relations with Tanzania in various fields.

Zarif said that water management, banking, consular affairs, tourism, science and technology are priorities for development of cooperation between the two countries.

The Tanzanian foreign minister, for his part, praised Iran's political, economic, scientific and cultural status and called for development of ties with the Islamic Republic.

In the meeting, the two sides agreed to hold the joint economic commission in the near future.

They also exchanged information on regional and international development and stressed cooperation between the two countries on the international scene.
