"Yes, correct," a diplomat inthe EU mission told the RIA Novosti news agency afterreports surfaced that a meeting was due later onWednesday.
Ambassadors fromthe United Kingdom, Germany, France and the top EU diplomat inWashington were going tojoin senators onCapitol Hill fortalks organized byDemocrat Richard Durbin, according toReuters.
US media reported last month that President Donald Trump was leaning towardscrapping the 2015 six-party deal withTehran thatscaled downits nuclear program inreturn forsanctions relief. The US administration is expected tomake a decision byOctober 15.
Earlier, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said that there was no necessity tore-negotiate the Iran nuclear deal which may have prevented a military intervention.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that Iran will withdraw fromthe deal incase the United States undertakes a similar step.
