Iraq, second destination for Iran products

IRNA Iraq is the second destination for Iranian products, Iran commercial attach in Baghdad said on Tuesday.

Iraq, over the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (starting on March 21) has imported two billion dollars worth of commodities from Iran to become the second destination for Iranian exports, Naser Behzad said.

Referring to the 44th Session of Baghdad International Fair slated for Oct 21-30, Behzad described the exhibition as an ample opportunity for introducing the Iranian companies and their products.

During the Baghdad fair in which 20 world countries including Germany, France and US will partake, the directors of the Iranian companies can hold talks with their Iraqi counterparts as well as participating officials of other countries on bilateral cooperation, the official said.

So, Iran has planned for having 'strong presence' in the upcoming Iraqi exhibition, Behzad stressed.

Worth of products which Iraq imports annually from different countries is 30 billion dollars, said the official adding that Iran's share of the Iraqi imports, stands at 24 percent which puts the country in third place of exporters to Iraq after China and Turkey.

If Iran adds technical and engineering services and gas condensate to its exports to Iraq, its share in the markets of the neighboring country will be equal to that of Turkey.

This year for the first time, Iran has started exporting daily 12 million cubic meters of natural gas to Iraq.
