Iran President departs Tehran for Astana

IRNA Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday left Tehran for the Kazakh capital, Astana to attend an international science summit.


Rouhani is scheduled to attend the first Summit of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Science and Technology during his two-day visit to Kazakhstan.

He is making the visit upon an invitation from his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The president is expected to meet some of his counterparts including Kazakhstan president on the sidelines of the international conference.

It is worth noting that the ministerial meeting, preparatory to the OIC Summit on Science and Technology started Saturday in Astana.

Ministers of Science and Technology of the Member States discussed and adopted the OIC Science, Technology and Innovation Agenda 2026 before its consideration and adoption by OIC leaders during the First OIC Summit on Science and Technology, which starts Sunday.
