Brazil ready to join Iran oil projects

SHANA - Brazils Minister of Mines and Energy Fernando Coelho Filho said Brazilian companies are technically ready to develop projects in Iran's oil and gas sector.

Speaking after a Monday meeting with Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh in Tehran, Filho said: "We talked to Mr. Zangeneh about the expertise that Brazilian companies have in exploration in deep water and he was very excited with the idea of Petrobras and Iranian companies' work together."

The Brazilian official said talks will continue between Iran and Brazil on enhancing ties in energy sector.

He said a date will be set for a team from Petrobras to visit Iran to hunt out investment and cooperation opportunities in OPEC-member Iran.

"Nowadays, Petrobras explore oil and gas in a depth that goes to almost 7 km down the offshore of Brazil so we have a lot of knowledge and technology in this area and hopefully we can work together here as well," he said.
