Four infiltrators, US-linked agents sentenced to prison in Iran

IRNA Tehran prosecutor general said on Sunday that a court in the Iranian capital has sentenced four infiltrators and US-linked agents to 10 years in prison each and the ruling was confirmed by the Apeal Court.

Addressing the eighth meeting of Tehran prosecutor deputies themed Research of Judicial Dossiers, Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi said the cases were about relations of the four agents with the antagonistic government of the US.

'One of the cases pertains to conviction of a US national,' Dolatabadi said in the meeting.

'The US national had come to Iran for higher education but he collected many classified information. He was sentenced to ten years in prison on charges of cooperating with foreign governments and the ruling has been confirmed in the Appeals Court,' said the prosecutor general.

'The three other convicts include a Lebanese national and tow Iranians (father and son),' Dolatabadi said adding, 'The Lebanese national has been sentenced to ten years in prison on charge of cooperating with the US government and the two Iranian nationals were each sentenced to serve 10 years in jail for cooperating with foreigners.'

Referring to the long history of US hostility against Iran, Dolatabadi said Washington's renewed sanctions against Tehran have indicated that US is still continuing its enmity with the country.

Enmity is inherent to the arrogant powers, said the prosecutor general.

He added that US was pursuing its antagonistic policies against Iran through its agents inside the country.

According to Dolatabadi, US hostile and provocative approach against Iran has been manifested in various forms including Washington's interference in Tehran's internal affairs, US support for the terrorist Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO), tarnishing Irans relations with other countries and mounting pressure on Iran under various pretexts such as nuclear and missile issues as well as the human rights and in forms of Iranophobia and Islamophobia policies and sowing discord between Shiite and Sunni Muslims.
