Majlis to hold 2nd extraordinary session to counter US terrorist acts

Tehran, Aug 1, IRNA The second extraordinary session of Majlis (parliament) to counter US adventurous and terrorist acts is scheduled to be held tomorrow, an official announced on Tuesday.

Deputy Chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Kamal Dehghani Firouzabad told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Tuesday.

The meeting will be held with the attendance of a group of foreign ministry officials.

The totality of the bill was ratified by consensus on Saturday during the first extraordinary session.

The single-urgency bill was ratified in the July 18 open session of the parliament.

On June 15, the US Senate voted for a legislation to impose non-nuclear sanctions on Iran for its defense missile programs. They voted 98-2 in favor of the legislation.

Bipartisan negotiations also led to the bill including expanded sanctions on Russia, in response to its alleged intrusion into Ukraine, efforts to meddle in the 2016 election and its support for the Syrian government.

Republican SenatorsRand Paul from Kentucky and Bernie Sanders, an independent from Vermont, were only two 'no' votes.
