Irans Majlis speaker says Tehran and New Delhi should boost reciprocal trade relations, and pave the way for closer cooperation between Iranian and Indian private sectors.The hurdles to promotion of relations between the private sectors of both countries should be removed in a bid to pump up the volume of mutual economic transactions and tap into Iran and Indias great potential to serve the interests of both nations, said Ali Larijani in a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on Saturday.
He said the two nations have numerous common bonds which they should utilize to further promote mutual cooperation on political, economic and cultural fronts.
The top parliamentarian said Irans Majlis welcomes and supports any initiative that would help upgrade bilateral ties.
Larijani has stressed the significance of continued consultations between Tehran and New Delhi on regional and international issues, and said the complicated developments currently unfolding in the region are all the more reason for both countries to hold close consultations on a regular basis.
The top Indian official, for his part, said holding a meeting of the Iran-India Joint Economic Commission is an opportunity to draw on both countries economic potential.
Holding such meetings, he said, will help explore new opportunities for expansion of mutual economic and political cooperation.
The senior Indian official also highlighted New Delhis support for Irans entitlement to a peaceful nuclear program, adding talks between Iran and the 5+1 group -- Russia, China, France, Britain, the US and Germany -- should be transparent and held on an equal footing.
