Inspection of Iran military sites redline: Senior MP

IRNA - Inspection of Iran's military headquarters or missile sites are redline and Tehran will never let Washington check these places, senior Iranian lawmaker says.

Qasem Jasemi, a member of the Parliament (Majlis) National Security and Foreign Policy Committee made the remarks on Friday in reaction to a proposal by US President Donald Trump, asking for inspection of Iran's military sites.

Since the start of the nuclear talks, Iran has always reiterated that it has no plan to access nuclear weapons, therefore inspection of its military sites has no justification, Jasemi added.

The lawmaker noted that according to a bill approved by Iran's Parliament, Western countries are not authorized to check Iran military headquarters.

The US president is seeking a justification to violate Iran nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he said.

The European states should not ask either for inspection of Iran military sites because of Trump's demand, the Iranian Member of Parliament added.

Jasemi said: Monitoring the implementation of the JCPOA is not more than an excuse for the US president and Trump has proposed the idea of visiting Iran military centers while the country has for many occasions breached the spirit of the international deal.

The EU has also confirmed violation of the JCPOA by the United States and expressed concerned about it, he added.
