47 Daesh terrorists killed in Iraqi army operations in Tal Afar

Tasnim The Iraqi army, backed by Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) known as Hashd al-Shaabi, managed to kill 47 members of the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terror group in Tal Afar, a town located approximately 50 km west of Mosul, local reports said.

The Iraqi army, in a statement, announced that the Arab countrys air force recently mounted an airstrike against the Daesh militants positions in al- Mahalabiyah district in Tal Afar, killing 18 terrorists and destroying five vehicles belonging to them, the Arabic-language Alsumaria news agency reported.

In another airstrike on al-Qadisiyah in Tal Afar, a bomb-building workshop was destroyed and seven Daesh terrorists were killed, according to the statement.

In several other air raids on the positions of Daesh terrorists in Tal Afar, eight ringleaders and 14 members of the group were also killed.

Earlier this month, Iraq declared the complete liberation of Mosul some three years after the northern city fell to Daesh terrorists.

After eight months of difficult urban warfare, Iraqi military forces on June 29 captured the Mosul mosque at the heart of the strategic northern city, where Daesh had declared its de facto capital.

The recapture of Mosul, located some 400 kilometers north of Baghdad, marked the effective end of Daesh in the Arab country.

Daesh stronghold in Syrias Raqqa is also close to falling.
