E-visas issuance starts for Iranian Hajj pilgrims: Iranian official

IRNA Acting Deputy Head of Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization declared on Friday that the process of issuing electronic visas began for Iranian pilgrims of Hajj 2017.

The electronic visas are prepared for some 86,500 Iranian pilgrims who are to attend this year Hajj congregation, said Nasrollah Farahmand in an exclusive interview with Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

He added that according to an agreement signed with Saudi Arabia, all visas for Iranian pilgrims would be issued in Tehran.

Farahmand asserted that the E-visas include information such as Iranian Hajj pilgrims accommodation, transfer, supplies, food and other services in Saudi Arabia.

The expiry date of the visas for the Iranian pilgrims in this years Hajj would be on October 6, a date by which all the pilgrims would be returned to the country, he added.

The first group of pilgrims would be dispatched to Hajj on July 31 from Imam Khomeini Airport to Saudi Arabia and the staff of Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization are to arrive in the holly cities of Mecca and Medina on July 15 (Saturday) for preparing necessary services for Iranian pilgrims.

The Iranian pilgrims will perform their Hajj rituals this year after a one-year pause which was resulted from Saudi officials failure to guarantee safety of the pilgrims after the Hajj tragedy in Mina that killed thousands of pilgrims in September 2015 including more than 460 Iranians.
