Syrian opposition, UN experts achieve progress in talks on working documents

MNA The three Syrian opposition groups and UN experts are discussing the possible outcome of the Syrian future, a special source told Sputnik.


The three Syrian opposition groups and UN experts are discussing several unofficial documents onthe future ofSyria atdaily technical meetings taking place incourse ofthe intra-Syrian talks inGeneva, and have managed toachieve certain progress init, a participant ofthese technical meetings, who preferred toremain anonymous, told Sputnik.

"There are several documents onwhich the three opposition platforms agreed. They are still not official agreements. But there is a significant progress," the source said.

According tothe source, there are several different working papers.,

"One is a 12-point paper onthe future ofSyria. The other one is 15 points relating tothe issues ofa transition period," the source added.

The 12-point paper, also known amongparticipants ofthe negotiations asNaumkin-Ramzy paper, is a document distributed bythe UN side tothe Syrian sides atthe March roundof the Intra-Syrian talks. The paper summarizes points ofcommonalities betweenthe opposition and the Syrian government and suggests what the core principles fora political solution inSyria should be. The paper, published onthe UN website, names such principles assovereignty, independence, territorial integrity ofSyria, democracy, non-sectarianism, rejection ofterrorism amongother provisions.
