IRNA -- Acting Head of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Tehran Kaveh Moradi said here on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran has signed important conventions like war against drugs and crime and is pioneer in this field.
He made the remarks in a meeting dubbed 'International Judicial cooperation in extradition of prisoners in the presence of Switzerland State Prosecutor Jean-Bernard Schmid.
Moradi said that UNODCs cooperation with Irans Judiciary began in the year 2000 and now it is 16 years for common cooperation in different cases.
He said our office had good cooperation in the fields of substitute punishments, confrontation with money-laundering, judicial cooperation and creation of facilities for regional, trans-regional and international cooperation.
Moradi said that convention to fight against organized crimes has already been signed by Iran and now is under consideration in Majlis (parliament) and hopefully Iran will be among members of the convention in near future.
The 2-day meeting kicked off in Kerman on July 12, 2017.
