Minister stresses on people-to-people relations

IRNA Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Reza Salehi-Amiri said peoples of countries can go beyond the official relations of their governments and establish people-to-people ties.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Azerbaijan Cultural Week in Tehran, the minister added that despite a 756-kilometer geographical border between the two countries of Iran and Azerbaijan, there is no border between the their peoples.

Welcoming the Azerbaijan cultural event in Tehran, the minister said that the language of art and culture is the language of humanity, civilization and altruism and cultured people are never at loggerheads with each other.

Different nations should stand united and avoid differences since the enemies are seeking to sew discord among them in their own benefit, the minister said.

Emphasizing that narrow-mindedness and cultural poverty are the origins of terrorism in the region, Salehi-Amiri said that the two nations of Iran and Azerbaijan should make further efforts to counter terrorism, stressing that more important than terrorism is the thought behind it which should be dried up in the region.

Unfortunately, Middle East is burning in the fire of narrow-minded elements and the only way to uproot terrorism is making considerable efforts to create cultural moderation in the region, concluded the minister.
