MNA � The European Union has stressed new plans for developing innovation and technological cooperation with Iran, Director of DG Research and Innovation at the European Commission said Monday.


Peter Dr�ll, Director of 'Industrial Technologies' of Directorate�General for Research and Innovation at the European Commission, made the remark in a joint cooperation meeting between Iranian higher education and research and the EU at Golestan Garden on Monday in Tehran.

He went on to add, �Iran and the EU has had good cooperation on student/teacher transfer programs and we are hoping to see further cooperation with Iran in the fields of technology and innovation in the future.�

�The EU delegation in Iran comprises 20 representatives from various European universities. This can provide a proper ground for expanding academic and scientific activities between the sides,� he said.

�We have plans for further interactions in the fields of science, innovation and technology in the second phase of Iran-EU cooperation,� he added.

A large EU delegation comprising 16 scientific and technological figures and representatives from 20 European countries arrived in Tehran on Sunday for a three-day visit. The delegation has been scheduled to take part in an Iran-EU joint working group meeting and an educational workshop.
