Iranian female taekwondoka ranks 2nd in world champs

IRNA Iranian female taekwondo fighter Kimia Alizadeh received first silver medal of Iran's female taekwondo in World Championships which was held in Muju, South Korea from June 24 to 30.


In the first step, Alizadeh in the weight category of - 62 kg defeated Chili rival 14-9.

She also overpowered Canadian fighter 36-22 and she advanced the third stage in which she tied with Chinese rival.

During the fourth match, Alizadeh hit Croatian fighter 12-4 and she advanced the semi-final stage.

In another attempt, Iranian taekwondoka defeated Russian athlete 9-6.

Despite suffering from some injuries, Alizadeh continued fight in the final match and she was overshined by Ivory Coast rival and she received the silver medal.

The 23rd round of World Taekwondo Championships was held with the attendance of 973 taekwondoka from 183 countries.

Kimia Alizadeh won bronze medal in Rio 2016 Olympics, first medal in the history of Iran's women Olympics sports.
