Tasnim � In a meeting with his Tunisian counterpart, Iran�s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif raise the idea of Tehran and Tunis holding continuous political negotiations.





In the final leg of his three-nation tour of North Africa, Foreign Minister Zarif arrived in Tunis on Monday evening.

After a meeting with Tunisia�s President Beji Caid Essebsi, the senior Iranian diplomat met his Tunisian counterpart Khemaies Jhinaoui.

In the latter gathering, Zarif said Iran sees no limits to the expansion of relations with Tunisia in various fields.

He also proposed developing a mechanism for regular political talks between the two countries.

For his part, Jhinaoui voiced Tunisia�s willingness to enhance ties with Iran in all arenas, expressing the hope that the two Muslim nations would manage to hold a session of joint commission in early 2018.

The two ministers further weighed plans to celebrate Tunisia�s cultural week in Tehran and dispatch a Tunisian trade delegation to Iran, and also discussed the latest regional developments.

Zarif paid visits to Algeria and Mauritania before heading to Tunisia.

Expansion of relations with the African nations is top on the agenda of Iran's foreign policy.

Iran�s President Rouhani has repeatedly stressed his administration�s interest in boosting relations with the African, particularly the Muslim states.
