Riyadh requires from Doha to expel Hamas, Muslim brotherhood members

Sputnik - Saudi Arabia set out several conditions for Qatar to normalize the bilateral relations amid the diplomatic rift and gave Doha 24 hours for the implementation of the conditions, local media reported Wednesday.


DUBAI (Sputnik) According toAkhbar Al Aan news outlet, the conditions included the expulsion ofall the members ofthe Muslim Brotherhood terror group (outlawed inRussia) and the Palestinian Hamas movement fromthe country, freezing oftheir bank accounts and the suspension ofany interrelations withthese groups. The immediate break ofthe diplomatic ties withIran was also reportedly one ofthe conditions laid downby Riyadh.


Apart fromthis, Saudi Arabia required fromDoha toimmediately change the policies ofQatar's Al Jazeera broadcaster and aswell asits administration staff so that the broadcasting would not contradict the interests ofthe Persian Gulf countries and the Arab world, the same reports added.

On Monday, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt announced a break indiplomatic relations withQatar, accusing Doha ofsupporting terrorist organizations and destabilizing the situation inthe Middle East. The authorities ofeastern Libya, Yemen, aswell asthe Maldives and Mauritius, later also announced the severance ofrelations withQatar. On Tuesday, the Jordanian authorities announced lowering the level ofdiplomatic contacts withQatar and closing the office ofAl Jazeera operating inthe country.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry rejected the accusations ofDoha's interference inother countries' domestic affairs and expressed regret overthe decision ofthe Gulf States tocut offthe diplomatic ties withit.
