Iran urges Islamic states to confront Israel moves

MNA Palestine Intifada Conference Secretary General Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Tehrans consideration of Egypt's role in the restoration of the rights of the Palestinian people reminds the need for Islamic countries to confront the expansionist aims of Zionist regime.


Iranian Parliament's General Director for International Affairs HosseinAmir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting on Sunday, with Yasser Othman, head ofEgyptianinterest section office in Tehran.

Noting relations and the commonalities between the two countries, Amir-Abdollahiansaid Iran and Egypt enjoya number of potentials in various fields to be exploited in developing relationships and helping solve regional issues through a political solution.

He also underlined the need for parliamentary ties in line with taking advantage of bilateral relations.

Underlining the need to confront serious challenge of extremism, violence and terrorism, Amir-Abdollahian said Iran and Egypt have common views on international and regional issues and appropriate potentialto solvethe problems of the region and to promote and strengthen the unity among the Muslim world.

The policy to develop cooperation between Iran and the neighboring Arab countries plays a constructive role in contributing to stability and security in the region, he added.

Referring to the developments in Palestine, Amir-Abdollahian said Tehrans consideration of Egypt's role in the restoration of the rights of the Palestinian peoplereminds the need for Islamic countries and international community to confront the expansionist goals of Zionist regime in Quds and the West Bank, and also to help Gaza defenseless inhabitants.

Yasser Othman, for his part, said Iran and Egypt are two major countries in the Muslim world that have always held fruitful consultations on regional and international fora.

He pointed to the parliamentary cooperation as one of appropriate ways in expanding bilateral ties in the field of foreign policy.

Head ofEgyptianinterest section office in Tehran emphasized the need to combat terrorism and collective efforts for the unity of Islam, adding the visits of political and parliamentary delegations of the two countries is effective in the development of relationships and mutual understanding.
