3 journalists, including Irans Al-Alam reporter, injured in Syrias Homs

Press TV - Three journalists, including a correspondent and cameraman with Irans Al-Alam Arabic-language news channel, have sustained injuries while covering the Syrian Arab Army's counter-terrorism operations against the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group in Syria's central province of Homs.

According to Syria's state-run SANA news agency, Sa'adallah Khalil, an Al-Alam reporter, and Somar al-Salameh, the channel's cameraman, along with Morhaf Mansour, a cameraman working for Lebanon's Al-Manar TV channel, were woundedin the area of al-Shomaria Mountains, east of the provincial capital Homs, on Friday.

The brief report, however, did not give further details about the incident and the victims' medical conditions.

During the past couple of years, the Syrian army, backed by Russia's air cover, has been fighting the terror group in parts of the Arab country, includingHoms province, whose northern parts have been declared as de-escalation zones for the so-called opposition armed groups.

The safe zones deal, which came into effect on Saturday, however, excludes the Takfiri groups of Daesh and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, formerly known as al-Nusra Front.

Syria has been battling foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimated last August that more than 400,000 people had been killed in the crisis until then.
