Russian control over extremism in Caucasus indebted to Iran
FNA- Senior advisor to the Iranian foreign minister Seyed Rasoul Moussavi underlined that Tehran is cooperating with Russia to prevent the further growth of extremist and terrorist groups in the Caucasus. Russian Control over Extremism in Caucasus Indebted to Iran's Assistance.

Iran is cooperating with Russia on the Caucasus and beyond and "Iran's understanding and agreements facilitated management of the extremism crisis beyond the Caucasus by Russia", Moussavi told FNA on Saturday.

Stressing the two countries' special relations on regional issues, he said the Syrian issue has brought Iran and Russia specially together to develop outstanding ties.

Moussavi said that Tehran and Moscow also consult on other regional issues, including the situation in Yemen and Afghanistan, and added, "Confrontation against the NATO's aggressive policies is also among the issues on which the two countries can cooperate."

His remarks came one day after Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on Friday called for broadening of relations in the fight against terrorist groups.

I want to repeat my condolences over the terrorist attack against Saint Petersburg and reiterate that we should fight terrorism with strengthened international cooperation," Zarif said during the meeting.

He reiterated that the war on terrorism should be a true war on terrorism and not just a symbolic war.
