Iran navy launches drills with Pakistan, Oman, Kazakhstan: Cmdr.

April 10, The Iran Project Iranian naval forceshave launched separate drills with the countries of Pakistan, Oman, and Kazakhstan since today.

Speaking to a reporter on Monday, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said the naval forces of the Islamic Republicand Oman have begun five-day joint rescue and relief drills in the northern areasof the Indian Ocean since Monday morning.

An Iranian naval flotilla, comprising Sabalan destroyer, Lavan logistic warship and helicopter carrier, SH3D helicopter and Falakhan missile-equipped warships take part in the drills, the Navy chief added.

Iranian Navy Deputy Commander Rear Admiral Seyed Mahmoud Mousavi also announced that the first stage of the joint rescue operation replica covered several tactical exercises including make-up change maneuvers, escort of commercial and oil tankers, refueling at sea, and communication exchanges.

Iran and Oman have so far held several naval relief and rescue drills aimed at enhancing readiness for providing relief services, conducting rescue operations, improving the level of regional cooperation and exchanging experience.

Sayyari went on to say that the Iranian Navy also on Tuesday will hold a Joint tactical exercise with Pakistan in the East of Strait of Hormuz and northern areas of the Indian Ocean, and begin a drill with Kazakhstan on Wednesday in the Caspian Sea.

In recent years, the Iranian Navy has increased its presence in international waters to protect naval routes and provide security for merchant vessels and tankers
