Financial Tribune - Atotal of 1.114 billion liters of gasoline, or 85.6 million liters daily, were burned during the Persian New Year holidays (March 21-April 2), said a spokesperson for the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company.
The volume is 5.5% higher than consumption during the previous Persian New Year holiday season. In addition, demand jumped to 102 million liters on April 1 as families travelled back home after the holidays.
During the previous holiday season, consumption saw a record high of 106 million liters in a single day.
Diesel consumption also dipped to 433 million liters in the said period from around 440 million liters compared to the corresponding period a year ago.
Iranians on average consumed 74 million liters of gasoline per day in the previous fiscal year that ended on March 20.
