Oman warns Jordan against Arab League’s anti-Iran agenda

IRNA – Oman on Wednesday cautioned Jordanian government against assumption of an anti-Iranian approach by the Arab League in the upcoming summit meeting of the League due to be held in Amman on March 29, 2017.

In their message the high-ranking Omani officials have warned against Arab League’s anti-Iranian agenda, threatening to decrease their level of participation in the League should the final statement tend to cause problems and create constraints, according to a report by Raialyoum news website.

The message did not elaborate on the notions of causing problems and creating constraints, though informed sources tend to argue that they are referring to Saudi Arabia’s extremist stance towards Iran.

Through the message, Muscat is going to warn Jordan against issuing any final statement by the Arab League summit and trading terrorism support allegations against Iran or calling on other countries to cut diplomatic relations with Tehran, said diplomatic sources.

Oman has said it does not intend to cause discomfort and pressure for other nations.

Oman and Kuwait have indirectly signaled support for engaging in talks with Iran as a neighboring country to find a settlement to differences with respect to mutual interests.
