FM to depart for Qatar later on Wednesday

IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is to depart for Qatar on Wednesday afternoon to hold talks with Qatari senior officials.

During his one-day visit to Iran's southern neighboring state, Zarif is to meet with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammad al-Attiyah and Emir of the Qatar Sheikh Tammim bin Hamad al-Thani, said spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Bahram Qasemi.

In his previous visit to Qatar in August 2016, Zarif discussed expansion of bilateral ties, regional and international cooperation between the two countries and mutual efforts for effective confrontation with terrorism and Takfiri groups.

Meanwhile, in a visit to Tehran in early February 2017, Foreign Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Khalid al-Sabah has conveyed a message from six Persian Gulf littoral states to President Rouhani which led to a visit to Kuwait and Oman by the Iranian President for further consultation and development of bilateral ties with its soutehr neighboring states.
