IRNA � Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif says that Tehran is after developing relations with Paris, stressing that Iran sees France as an important political and economic partner.

Zarif made the remarks in a meeting held here Saturday morning with the visiting French Minister of Finance Michel Sapin.

Referring to the Jan 2016 historical visit of President Hassan Rouhani to France and the recent trip of the French foreign minister to Iran which was followed by holding the joint economic commission, Zarif said Iran is seeking expansion of ties with France.

Holding Tehran-Paris joint economic commission was an indication of the two countries� political will to widen all-out bilateral cooperation, Zarif added.

For his part, the French minister said Paris and Tehran have been so successful in their economic relations.

France, as a member of the European Union (EU) and also as part of the July 2015 nuclear deal, has endeavored to make the deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) successful.

Iran and the six world powers- US, UK, France, China, Russia and Germany- reached a landmark agreement on July 14, 2015. The �Implementation Day� of the deal was announced on January 16, 2016.

As Sapin noted in the meeting, French officials and companies are willing to make use of the opportunities made by the nuclear deal in the two countries.

Many of the economic projects on auto and plane between the two countries have been implemented, said the French minister, expressing satisfaction over the process of implementation of the bilateral agreements.

France along with the EU makes effort to cooperate with Iran, he concluded.
