IRGC Ground Force to stage war game in east, southeast of Iran

Tasnim Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour announced that his forces plan to launch massive military drills in eastern and southeastern parts of Iran next week.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference in Tehran on Saturday, Brigadier General Pakpour said the war game, codenamed Payambar-e Azam 11 (The Great Prophet), will start in east and southeast Iran on Monday.

He said the military drills will be staged in two phases, adding that advanced rockets will be test-fired during the war game in central parts of the country as well.

According to the commander, they include rockets with pinpoint accuracy that have been added to the IRGCs military hardware recently.

He said the IRGCs drones and artillery will also be employed in the military exercises.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Brigadier General Pakpour highlighted the importance of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the IRGC Ground Force, and said today, drones are used in all the missions of the force, including reconnaissance, combat and suicide missions.

Irans Armed Forces hold routine military exercises throughout the year.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly assured other nations, especially neighboring states, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
