Memorial book opens in Iran's embassy in Hague for Ayat. Rafsanjani

IRNA - Iran's embassy in the the Hague, Netherlands has opened a memorial book for the late Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani who passed away on Sunday.

The memorial book is scheduled to remain open until Thursday to be signed by political officials and the diplomats residing in the Netherlands.

Iran's flag was also flown at half-mast on Iranian embassy in the Netherlands as a sign of mourning.

During the early days of the opening of the memorial book, some ambassadors and diplomats residing in the Netherlands signed the book and praised the late Ayatollah Rafsanjani in their comments on his crucial role in Iran's domestic and foreign policy.

Ayatollah Rafsanjani died on January 8 (Sunday) at the age of 82 due to a heart attack in a Tehran hospital.

He was a close ally to the Father of the Islamic Revolution the late Imam Khomeini and also the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Rafsanjani was a veteran cleric, a pillar of the Islamic Revolution and an influential politician, who served in different positions in the post-1979 Islamic Revolution era.
