IRNA Former President of Pakistan and President 'Pakistan Peoples Party' (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari called for expansion of ties with Iran in all fields especially trade and economics.
He expressed the remarks during a meeting with Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mehdi Sobhani who called on him at Bilawal House (main headquarters of the PPP) in Karachi.
Former President and the Consul General discussed bilateral ties and matters of mutual interests.
Asif Ali Zardari said that he supports implementation of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline (IP) project and reiterated his party wants expansion of ties with Iran in all areas.
He added that during his government, big steps were taken to further strengthen ties
between Iran and Pakistan and signing of gas pipeline agreement was of the important measures in his government.
Iranian Consul General Mehdi Sobhani expressing his views said that Iran is looking forward to further strengthen its relations with Pakistan in all areas especially trade and economics.
Earlier Asif Ali Zardari while addressing a large gathering on the 9th assassination anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto said that his party wants strong relations with Iran and other Muslims states.
Former President had returned to Pakistan last month after living abroad for 18 months and vowed to run for the next round of elections in Pakistan.
