FNA- Iranian parliamentarians in a statement on Tuesday marked the first anniversary of the execution of prominent Saudi Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr by the Riyadh regime, saying that it showed the imprudence and irresponsibility of the Saudi rulers.
"The execution and martyrdom of Sheikh Nimr under the conditions that the extremist and Takfiri terrorists have disturbed calm and security in the region and the world and threatened regional stability and tranquility, indicated the depth of imprudence and irresponsibility of the Saudi government rulers," the statement said.
They underlined that Saudi Arabia which supports terrorism in the region, has launched a deadly war against the innocent Yemeni people and supports suppression of other countries' people is trying to widen the gaps in the region.
The Iranian MPs condemned again Sheikh Nimr's execution, and called on the human rights organizations to stop double-standards against Saudi Arabia's crimes against humanity and act upon their responsibilities by deploring such measures.
The Saudi regime executed Sheikh Nimr on January 2, 2016, defying international calls to release him.The execution sparked international condemnations and angry protests in many countries.
Sunni and Shiite Muslims from across the world rushed to condemn his execution, vowing revenge.
On Sunday, people of Bahrain held a rally to mark the first anniversary of the execution of Sheikh Nimr.
Bahrainis took to the streets of the village of Diraz also to show solidarity with Bahraini Shiite cleric Sheikh Isa Qassim, whom Manama stripped of citizenship in June.
